Phlebology is the field of medicine dedicated to the study and treatment of vein diseases.  Established and practiced in Europe for over 50 years, it has relatively few specialists in the United States who can provide the full spectrum of non-invasive clinical evaluation and treatment options in one place.  The Center is equipped with a state-of-the-art advanced ultrasonic diagnostic system that provides high-definition color images of the circulation, greatly enhancing our diagnostic capabilities.  After evaluation by our vascular surgeon, a personalized treatment program will be designed specifically to meet your needs.  This individualized therapy will include a variety of treatment modalities that will be described below. Circulation of the legs Blood flow through the legs is comprised of a system of arteries which bring freshly oxygenated blood from the heart and veins which return the oxygen-depleted blood back to the heart.  In normally functioning veins, internal valves allow blood to flow to the heart, but prevent flow in the opposite direction.  Contraction of the calf muscles assists blood flow in the direction of the heart.  Drs.
